The Best Mexican Restaurant in All of WA?
This Capitol Hill restaurant in Washington is so popular, customers are willing to wait in very long lines for a table. Typically with restaurants, long lines of hungry (and thirsty) people indicate good food and great customer service is being served there. Food critics and restaurant regulars have named one place as the best Mexican restaurant in the state.
Whoa, hold on just a minute! That is one tough order to name 1 restaurant as the "best" in the whole state, and since I've never eaten there myself, I find that claim to be ambitious and unfounded, ha! In my foodie opinion, the best Mexican restaurants in the state are actually found in Central Washington, so I can't wait to find out for myself why people are saying this place is THE best Mexican restaurant in all of Washington.
Have you ever been to Mercado Luna?
Mercado Luna, a.k.a., Mezcaleria Oaxaca, means “mezcal factory”, inspired by the Mexican state of Oaxaca, where high quality mezcal tequila is a big deal. Fans rave about their birria tacos, handmade tortillas, tostadas, birthday tequila shots, mezcal margaritas, churros, and the rooftop menu.
THE MEXICAN AUTHENTICITY, FOOD, DRINKS, AMBIANCE, AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A VIBE
Customers mention that the trendy dining vibe inside Mezcaleria Oaxaca feels authentically Mexican, from the restaurant walls decorated with Mexican vaqueros, ganaderos (cowboys and ranchers), and stunning landscapes from Mexico to the paper lanterns in bright Mexican-style colors hanging in the bar, to the serape-covered tables and other cojibas (blankets) on display.
You’ll find cooks making handmade tortillas and stirring huge metal pots filled with authentic Oaxaca-inspired marinades for the meat.
The menu prices are a bit on the pricey side for the appetizers, entrees, drinks, and desserts, according to some Yelp reviews, but overall, the ambiance of Mezcaleria Oaxaca paired with the flavor of the food and reported friendly service makes the cost of the meal and drinks worth shelling out for.
Mezcaleria Oaxaca is a 21+ establishment and they are closed on Mondays.
Tuesdays - Thursdays: 4-10 p.m.
Fridays - Saturdays: 4-11 p.m.
Sundays: 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
