NSYNC Reunites in NYC — But One Major Member Was Missing
For anyone who spent the late ’90s or early 2000s with MTV on in the background, NSYNC just delivered a serious dose of nostalgia.
The NSYNC Reunion Hits New York
The boy band reunited in New York City Thursday to film a special for “TRL,” but one familiar face was missing. Justin Timberlake did not attend the taping, leaving Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick to represent the group alongside former “TRL” host Carson Daly.
The four bandmates were spotted through a window at the New York location, smiling and waving to people gathered outside. And people definitely gathered.
Fans lined up down the block hoping to catch a glimpse of the group, a reminder that NSYNC still has plenty of pull more than two decades after the band dominated pop radio and MTV. For Washington fans who remember waiting for their favorite videos to come on “TRL,” the scene probably felt like stepping straight back into another era.
Justin Timberlake Was Missing
Timberlake’s absence was hard to miss, especially given how closely his name remains tied to the band’s history. TMZ reported that he simply wasn't there for the reunion taping; the report gave no indication that the other four members treated the event as anything less than a nostalgic celebration.
The special also reunited the musicians with original MTV VJs, adding another layer of ’90s nostalgia. “TRL” was once a daily destination for young music fans, and seeing the former hosts and NSYNC members together again gave the taping the feel of an old MTV time capsule.
For fans watching, the reaction outside the studio felt especially familiar. No matter how much time has passed, the songs still live in memories made during road trips, school dances, and afternoons spent waiting for a favorite video.
Justin Timberlake may have skipped this reunion. The fans certainly didn’t.
