The popularity of the stuffed childhood red or green elf resurged back in 2005 after Carol Aebersold and her daughter, Chanda Bell published the book, Elf on the Shelf. A story about the scout elves that are watching to see if we’re naughty or nice. And when you’re not looking, they would fly back to the North Pole and report back to Santa.
