SUMMER IS AROUND THE CORNER: But You Still Wanna Escape Wenatchee

Winter seemed to have lasted longer than normal. Did we even have Autumn? Yeah, Spring is a comin’. And before we know it, Summer will arrive. Then we can really enjoy the best of the Wenatchee Valley! Yea! yea. Something’s missing. You still wanna get away, don’t you. What are you dreaming about? In general, most people mentioned “I just want to escape to the beach.” I can’t blame you.

MALDIVES: Anyone who has stepped into my office has noticed that I’ve got SAD light on full blast. No really. I have to wear sunglasses. And playing on the big screen TV is a video of scenes from Maldives. Ah yes. Those beautiful resort islands with above water villas. For years, I’ve fantasized about spending time with the love of my life (Television’s Jennifer Love Hewitt), soaking up the rays in the quietness of the warm crystal clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Romanic candle light dinners as the sun sets. Breakfast in bed with the sliding glass wall opens to the blue morning sky. Coffee on the deck after showering outdoors. But then two realizations hit me. I don’t have the money or Jennifer Love Hewitt. But I can dream, and then set goals to come close to that fantasy. Like save up money to fly to Hawai’i.

HAWAI’I: A lot of people mentioned flying out to the 50th state. I have friends who are always flying out to Honolulu (my friend Tanja is there as I write this). But perhaps jump to an island that may be less populated and “least expensive”. I almost moved to Kona for a job. Kona is on the sunny side of the Big Island. That’s where most of the tourist will go. Hilo is facing east where most of the rain is, and that’s where more of the locals live. But there are just as much to do there than Maui and Honolulu. If you’re looking to just chill, my friend Nicole worked at a resort on the island of Lana’i. And it’s just a short boat ride to Maui.

FLORIDA: Again, I almost moved to the panhandle area. But it never happened. I’ve never been to Florida. Which will surprise many people, knowing I’m a Disney freak. Yep. Never been to Walt Disney World. Some day. A lot of people mentioned they’d like to visit WDW or The Keys. I have quite a few friends who have recently moved to the state. They say there’s something special about the beaches and lifestyle of Florida. Someday.

SOCAL BEACHES: There were some specific places as mentioned like Hawai’i. But quite a few people said the beaches of LA. Famously, Huntington Beach (Surf City, USA…sorry, Santa Cruz) which is a short drive south of Disneyland. But there are some other beaches in SoCal to visit and relax other than the ones we see on TV shows like Santa Monica, Venice, Huntington or Newport (which by the way, the last two are actually in Orange County). But stay at a hotel in Torrance and explore the less crowded South Bay beaches like Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo. Maybe a drive up to Ventura, which is cheaper than Santa Barbara for sure. But I’d differently go before the summer.

DISNEYLAND: Did someone mentioned, Disneyland?! I knew this was gonna be brought up. Lots of us want to escape to the place  that’s all about escaping to different lands. As most of you know, I’m a Disneyland freak. I’m there all the time shooting video for my YouTube Channel or taking photos for my Instagram. I’ve done a couple of articles already about The Dos and Don'ts at Disneyland and Disneyland Tips for Your Trip so I won’t go too much into this, but note that with the opening of several new attractions like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railroad and Adventureland Tree House, and the eventual closing of Splash Mountain, with some refurbishments on other rides, it’s gonna be a bit of a busy mess. Although, there’s such thing is an off-season at Disneyland. Staying at the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa Resort itself can be just as expensive as a few nights stay in the Maldives. You can easily stay at one of the cheaper hotels on Harbor and then walk over to the Grand, where there are a few things you can enjoy that don’t require you to be a guest at the Resort. You can even dine by the pool at the Craftsman Bar, or head over to Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel.

LAS VEGAS: I’ve actually lived in Vegas, and I loved it. I’ve got family there, as well as some friends who (like those who moved to Florida) have moved out of California and headed to Sin City. Although I will tell you, that Vegas is still one of the fastest growing cities in the country and that there is SOOOO much more than The Strip and gambling in Vegas. Sure. Catch a show, experience the big casinos, catch a Raiders or Knights game. Perhaps get away from downtown when you stay and not have to pay so much, and still enjoy all there is to Vegas. What a great place to explore the rich history as well. Vegas has become a family town so don’t be afraid to bring the kids. Just know where to go.

THE TINY TOWNS OF WASHINGTON: I had a few people who have said that after reading my series of articles and posts about the Tiny Towns of Washington, that they’re interested in visiting these places. Two of the tiny towns (of course two more coastal towns) that listeners are seeking to explore are La Conner and Coupeville. A couple wrote in Twitter that they would even like to perhaps even retire in Coupeville. Well, these were some of the top places that our listeners said they’d like to escape to. What about you? Did we miss a place you’d like to go? Perhaps the Redwood forests? The jungle life? The desert communities? Let us know.

Pictures: See Inside Luke Bryan's Stunning Beach House

Luke Bryan listed his 4,600-square-foot beach house for sale in December 2022. The stunning Florida mansion includes four bedrooms and bathrooms and comes furnished. The master bedroom overlooks 95 feet of water frontage, but if you don't want to descend all four floors to get there, you can absorb the warmth of the private, heated pool. This Santa Rosa Beach property is on sale for $18 million, among the most ever for a country star's house.
