Beach Boys

It was one of the bigger stories here in the Wenatchee Valley in 2022. And it frustrated many trying to fly out of Pangborn Airport for business, family affairs, vacations, or for those who just enjoy sitting closely to others in very tiny uncomfortable seats on an airbus.

This might be hard for many to believe, but there was a time when artists and bands were afraid to have the name of God in the title of their song. Considering some of the titles and lyrics of today’s music. There’s the story about Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys who was scared that radio stations would ban God Only Knows from the airwaves.

This week, Russell Dickerson’s follow up to She Likes It from his self-titled album is God Gave Me a Girl. Now, normally I would talk about the lyrics…and they are good! Telling a story of his younger, wilder days, causing his momma to pray hard, and his buddies giving him a hard time because he's ready to settle down.

Every year there’s a list of the hottest Christmas gifts from toys to the latest tech gadgets. And it didn’t surprise me seeing items like Marvel action figures and the Bluey Playhouse, to Google smart speakers/displays and iPads. But one product that I saw on quite a few lists this year, took me by surprise. Well, sorta surprising. Because now that I think about it, I could easily see this on several of my friend’s Christmas list. Heck, I wouldn’t mind unwrapping one of these on Christmas morning.
