Chayce Beckham has officially broken the American Idol curse with "23." The song is his first No. 1 song at country radio.

He's broken the American Idol "curse" thanks to the success of his No. 1 song, "23."

He also performed his emotional new song.

For many of us Shedders, and Kissin’ 977 listeners, waiting for the lineup and dates for Watershed 2023 was like a kid who was counting down the days until Christmas. We all had our wish list filled out, and Thursday night before announcement day, artists and bands danced in our dreams, all in hopes that we’ll see them soon perform live at the Gorge Amphitheater, August 4th, 5th, and 6th.

The singer looks to artists in country music, as well as from outside genres, for inspiration.

Beckham’s final words remind me of the final line from Zach Bryan’s Something in the Orange when Bryan softly says, “Please turn those headlights around.” Chayce sheepishly begs, “Sorry Momma. Please don’t look at me.” As if he’s hiding from God himself after he’s sinned so badly. Please don’t look at me.
